The Trace Manager lets you add new traces, view and change trace properties
and remove traces from the display.
To show this dialog select Trace Manager
under the File menu.
Files: Lists the trace files that are
currently open. Select a trace file from the list to see details about
the individual traces in the File Details section
of the dialog box.
Add New: Click this to open another trace
file and add it to the list of Files. The Open
Trace dialog box will be displayed.
Unload: Click this to close the selected
trace file and unload all the traces that it contains.
Start: Shows the start depth (shallowest)
for the selected trace file, in metres.
Stop: Shows the stop depth (deepest) for the
selected trace file, in metres.
Increments: Shows the distance between each
reading for the selected trace file, in metres.
Traces: Shows the traces that are in the
currently selected trace file. Select a trace from the list to view and
edit its properties in the Trace details
section of the dialog box.
Field: Set the trace field use to display
the trace.
Colour: Use the drop down to select the colour
used to draw the trace. You can select the No
line value to make the trace line invisible.
Filter distance: Specify a parameter
to use for the filtering algorithm for this trace. A larger number
results in a smoother line. The filter distance is only relevant when the
Filter Traces setting is
on. Filtering uses a moving average algorithm - this parameter is the
number of trace readings included in the window used to calculate the average
for a point, with the averaging window being centred on the point. Enter a
value of zero to disable filtering for this trace, even when the Filter
Traces setting is on.
Shift: Specify a vertical offset to be applied
when drawing this trace, in metres. This offset is added to the depth - so a
positive number shifts the trace down the hole and a negative number moves the
trace up the hole. Enter zero to return the trace to its original position.
Actual Range / Suggested
Range: Select the Using checkbox in either
section to set the horizontal display range for the selected trace to either
the minimum and maximum values of the trace data, or the minimum and maximum
values as specified by the user in the Min and
Max fields. The Min
value corresponds to the left hand side of the trace field, the Max value to the right, if you want to draw the trace
"backwards" then specify a Min value that is
greater than the Max value. If the values are
equal then the trace is not drawn.
Defaults for many of these settings can be set for each trace (based on the
name of the trace) in the MEGS_Log config
file.
