Use this tab of the Options dialog box to
change settings relating to opening and saving files in CSV (comma separated
value) format. This tab on its own may also be shown when opening or saving a
specific CSV file.
Settings available are:
Select schema to use: Defines the type
and order of the fields present in the Prolog file. See
About Schemas for more information on
how schemas affect the reading and writing of CSV files.
Heading Rows: The number of rows in the CSV
that contain header information. These rows are ignored when opening a CSV
file. When saving a CSV file this number of header rows will be output, using
the names of each field in the selected schema for the first row, and blank rows
for any remaining heading rows.
Interbedded unit record location:
The location of the unit level data for an interbedded unit relative to
the other element records for that unit.
Unit rocktype for new interbedded units:
The rocktype that will be used when new interbedded units are created while
editing the borehole. This does not affect existing interbedded units.
Quoting: How characters such as space
and comma are handled within the file. If quoting is set to
Use double quote or
Use single quote then further options
can be set on how quote characters in fields are escaped.
Always ask for import and export settings:
If ticked the user will be asked for the settings above every time a CSV
file is loaded or saved. Otherwise the other settings above are used by
default. (This setting is only available when this tab is being shown
as part of the Options dialog box.)
When this tab is being shown as part of opening or saving a specific
CSV file the dialog will also contain a message with more information about
the number of fields in the borehole in memory or on disk, and the number of
fields in the currently selected schema. You can use the information in this
message to help you choose the best settings to open or save the file.
Recommended settings for CSV files generated by Microsoft Excel are to use
double quotes and two in a row quoting of quotes.
